I wanted to share with all of you some very exciting news! SADD which stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions has been absent from Perham High for the past two years. As of right now SADD is back up and running!! I was recently given the oppurtunity to be a member of SADD and now hold the title of Vice President for the group. After school today we held a SADD kick-off party. I was not expecting to have the turn out that we did. We now have 15 new members! We spent a couple of hours visiting about the future for the group and the goals we have. I also was able to share about my platform "It's No Joke, Say NO to Smoke," with the kids in my High School. I shared about the diseases both of my grandfathers posses from the decision they made to start smoking during their teens years. The impact they have had on me to spread awarness of teen smoking has given me the passion to share my concern for this issue. It was so exciting to see other teens my age passionate about this issue as well. I'm confident that I am not in this fight alone! Each month SADD is going to have a special project in which we do things for the community. Our next be project is going to be getting students in our high school to get clothing out of their closests that they no longer need or wear. We hope to bring a huge clothing donation to a church in Richville, MN for them to hand out to families in need this Chirstmas season. SADD will be helping me with a project this February as I promote smoking prevention in the ones you "love." :)We also hope to have a project that promotes good decision making during Prom in May.I'm so excited to see all of the potential that SADD has to become a group that changes lives in our high school.
